About Us
‘We provide competitive sports for all age groups, from the under 8's to the over 80's’.
Established in 1987 the Albrighton Sports Complex is a joint management organisation for the Sports Ground in Loak Rd, Albrighton. The Complex is made up of two main users of the site. The main objective of the organisation is to provide a sports facility to host both Crown Green Bowling and Football.
From its initial roots that were developed in 1987, the Complex secured a long term lease with Albrighton Sports and Social Club in 1995. This enabled a bid for a lottery grant to build a pavilion to replace its aged wooden hut. The new build has a dedicated function room with attached kitchen area, home and away changing rooms with showers and toilets.
In 2017 the 3.7 acre site was purchased from our landlords, giving the complex committee the opportunity to develop the site further and we are now looking at other sports to join us, providing even more activities for the residents of Albrighton and surrounding areas.
The floodlit bowling green sits adjacent to the pavilion and a well maintained garden area, approximately 40m x 40m, and has always been maintained on a self-help basis by a small team of volunteers.
The combination of Home and Away changing rooms and a football pitch that has a natural vantage point at the pavilion end arguably makes this facility one of the best junior football facilities in Shropshire and is regularly used by the Shropshire FA for junior football finals and tournaments.
It is the proud boast of the Sports Complex that we can provide competitive sports for all age groups, from the under 8's to the over 80's, as juniors can build their competitive spirit in either football or Crown Green Bowls and continue using the facility well into retirement.
